The Samsung Galaxy A8 is the latest smartphone in this series and is touted as the slimmest ‘Galaxy’ phone till now as it is only 5.9mm thick — even the Samsung flagship Galaxy S6 is 6.8 mm.

Galaxy A8 Detailed Review.

Design and Display:

Galaxy A8 has a metal frame on sides, full metal unibody builds and look sleek and premium. The screen in the Galaxy A8 is 5.7-inch Super AMOLED. Those who are fans of big-screen phones will appreciate the extra real estate on the screen as Samsung Galaxy A8 has a 2.5 mm bezel that you barely notice. But the metal frame and some thoughtful tapering design on the sides, not only makes the phone look elegant but also helps with the grip. There are no sharp edges that will bother you when you hold the phone in your hand.

On the right-hand side, you have a power/standby button whereas on the left-hand side you have two distinct volume buttons. The top edge is clean and at the base, you get the micro USB charging/data transfer port along with the 3.5mm audio jack.

Performance and Processor:

Galaxy A8’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor ensures a fairly snappy performance, be it downloading apps and playing graphics-heavy games or just browsing. It comes with Android 5.1.1 OS along with the Touch Wiz UI atop it. However, the phone does start to get hot when you use it for too long. You can use a palm swipe to capture a screenshot and mute by just placing your hand on the screen or turning the device over. Smart Alert vibrates the phone when you pick it up to let you know about missed calls and messages.

Galaxy A8 comes with 2GB of RAM and you get 32GB of storage. One of the SIM card slots can also house a micro SD card which lets you expand the storage to 128GB.

Galaxy A8 Camera:

The Galaxy A8’s 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera sound like the same as the ones on the S-series flagships, the Galaxy A8 uses a slimmer ISOCELL LSI3P3 camera sensor to fit into its 5.9mm frame.

The camera is decent in ordinary light and in bright settings. Sharpness, detail and color reproduction are definite strong points. Colors have a tendency to pop, and the camera has tremendous ability in accurately reproducing well-lit and poorly-lit parts of the same surfaces. Zooming deep into pictures also tends to reveal a lot of detail.

Galaxy A8 produces good pictures and videos. The camera app is easy to use and has all important controls positioned comfortably around the screen. The camera app will launch in two quick presses of a home button.

  • Fingerprint scanner

Cons:

  • Expensive for Mid-Range

Galaxy A8 Price in India:

Samsung Galaxy A8 will cost you of Rs.32500/- in India.

Conclusion:

This slimmest phone from Samsung manages to impress on most fronts, especially the build quality, camera and battery performance. For a 5.7-inch phone, the Galaxy A8 does not feel that bulky thanks to the slim form factor, lightweight, and thinner bezels. It certainly performs faster than competing Snapdragon 615 SoC sporting phones we have seen in the past. The option to expand the storage will certainly appeal to a lot of users. But heating issues do crop up once in a while, although we did not notice apps randomly shut down due to overheating.

So, if you really alike want to buy A8 then you should wait till the price drops if you are looking for a big large screen.
